GardaWorld participated in the 49th edition of the IAHSS Annual Conference and Exhibition (AC&E) which took place in Vancouver from April 23 to 25. The theme of this year was “Reaching new heights in healthcare security and safety”.
In keeping with the AC&E’s theme for this year’s edition, GardaWorld hosted a webinar a few days before the event on “Preventing violence in the emergency room” in partnership with the IAHSS. The goal was to highlight how security programs in healthcare facilities can help to significantly improve the safety of medical staff, patients and visitors – thus also emphasizing the importance of partnership between security and clinical staff.
More than 250 professionals of the healthcare industry in Canada and the USA attended the 3-day conference to learn from recognized speakers such as Mike Howard, Chief Security Officer at Microsoft Corporation and Susan Brown, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Interior Health Autority. GardaWorld’s healthcare specialists also made the trip to the event: Luc Rousseau and Jean-Étienne Charbonneau from the province of Quebec, Leighanne Wilson and Kari Leighton for the Central & Atlantic regions and, Scott Young and Tyler Duggan for Western Canada.
The event was not only an opportunity for these professionals to learn from experts but also to share between themselves best practices of operational efficiency, strategic leadership and employee retention.
GardaWorld’s team was particularly eager to attend the event to meet with healthcare consultants and professionals originating from provinces other than theirs. Indeed, better protecting healthcare institutions entails being in the know of the healthcare industry’s trends – from pain points and challenges to innovations.
Stay tuned for upcoming healthcare security news!
