GardaWorld leverages local expertise in successful expansion into Western Canada

November 5, 2018

GardaWorld is capturing attention in the security industry for our important expansion in recent years—not just geographically, but also in the wide range of security services we offer.

Today, we have more than 5,000 clients in more than 140 cities across Canada, providing travel securityarmored truck transportpolice support servicesevent securitycash managementsecurity consultingcrisis management services and much more. With such diverse clients and services, how do we continue to create tailored solutions for local partners? It lies in our regional approach.

As we expand our strategic presence in Western Canada, we have divided our security services operations into two distinct regions: Pacific and Prairie. In January, we announced the appointment of Steve Hoffman as Vice President of Operations for the Pacific Region, which includes British Columbia and the Yukon. In September, Scott Young was brought on as Vice President of Operations for the Prairies Region, which encompasses Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

Steve Hoffman brings decades of risk management and government experience

Steve Hoffman previously served as Special Advisor to the Ministry of Justice in British Columbia, overseeing matters regarding safety and security across the province. As a corporate security professional with more than 20 years of experience in risk management, security and operations, Hoffman brings a wealth of expertise to the GardaWorld team. His local knowledge of the Pacific region will be a strong asset in working with local partners to develop customized services that meet their needs. Solution-oriented and versatile, Hoffman has a successful track record in business development, operational efficiency, and customer service.

Scott Young oversees expansion of innovative and customizable offerings in the Prairies

Scott Young joined the GardaWorld family in 2001 and has since progressed in both the operations and business development spheres. His commitment to GardaWorld has taken him across the country. In early 2017, Young moved from Vancouver to Toronto to lead the business development team for the Western, Central and Atlantic regions. His focus on innovative, customized security solutions resulted in substantial growth. A seasoned and motivated leader, Young is now taking his industry experience back home to the Prairies.

Named one of Security Products & Technology Magazine’s Top 10 most influential decision-makers in security under the age of 40, Young is a very involved member of ASIS International and a past Chair of the organization’s Canadian Pacific Chapter. He currently serves as Assistant Regional Vice President for the Young Professionals Program for ASIS Canada. This past summer, Young participated in an international security round table that was hosted by Canadian Security magazine to discuss new legislation and other important developments affecting security operations in the country.

Championing local and innovative solutions across the globe

To continue to be a company that both offers local solutions and is growing globally, we depend on regional experts. Our regional leaders understand the fast-changing industry and have a proven track record. They have built strong relationships with local partners and clients, and they understand the local issues. With Hoffman and Young’s recent appointments, we are even better positioned to provide exceptional security services in Canada, while continuing to strengthen our presence on the world stage.
