The Road to Becoming Lead Security Instructor

GardaWorld Toronto’s Lead Security Instructor, Dushiyanthan Yogananthan, is a highly qualified and extensively trained security professional, with certifications in handcuffing, baton, defensive tactics, use of force theory instruction, and first aid—just to name a few. Dushiyanthan emphasizes the importance of advancing his instructor credentials to remain current, competitive, and effective.

Dushiyanthan wasn’t always an instructor; he began his career in 2008 at Intercon Security, later acquired by GardaWorld in 2013. Before being promoted to Training Coordinator, and now Lead Instructor, Dushiyanthan worked various residential and commercial security contacts.

“The best part about working at GardaWorld is the ability to grow,” says Dushiyanthan, “Not only as an instructor, but as an individual. As security professionals, it’s our job to connect with people, view things from all perspectives, and help each other. Customer service and proper training play an important role in this.”

Dushiyanthan Yogananthan has trained over 3350 people throughout his career.
