
First aid in the workplace
CNESST’s First Aid in the Workplace Training is a complement to Certified Security Guard training, and is required to obtain the regular security guard permit issued by the Bureau de la sécurité privée.
This course teaches participants how to recognize, respond to and handle emergency situations until first responders arrive. The certification issued is valid for a period of 3 years.
The training is offered over a 4-day period, which consists of 3 days of theoretical training, and 1 day of hands-on training. The theoretical part of the training takes place on our online training platform. The participant must, therefore, have a laptop and a webcam to take this course.
The practical training will take place at the GardaWorld Campus, located at 1350 Barré Street, Montreal.

Course content
This course covers all emergency first aid skills. Participants will learn about Quebec and Canadian laws, techniques for approaching and evaluating an individual in need, and the behavior of the rescuer. They will also learn about serious allergies, medical, injuries, defibrillators (AED), and lastly, resuscitation techniques (CPR). This course complies with CNESST standards.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old
- Have no criminal record
- Understand and speak French
- Have access to a computer with a webcam
- Have access to high-speed Internet
