Officials ordered all rail services, including commuter and long-distance trains, to be suspended north of Stockholm at approximately 17:00 (local time) on Wednesday, May 16. Authorities ordered the stoppage after an electrical wire that was torn down started a fire at Upplands Väsby. Emergency services were able to extinguish the fire but the wire needed to be repaired before operations could continue. Buses have been dispatched to replace trains between Häggvik and Märsta. According to local media reports, train service was expected to resume around 19:00 with residual delays expected.
Individuals traveling in the area are advised to confirm the status of their trains, expect increased demand for alternative forms of transportation, and allow additional time to travel.
