Cuban state media has reported that over 100 people have died after a Boeing 737 crashed just after takeoff near José Martí International Airport (HAV) in Havana at approximately 12:40 (local time) on Friday, May 18. According to initial reports, three people have survived the crash and are in the hospital in critical condition. The plane was scheduled to operate a domestic flight from Havana to the eastern city of Holguin. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the accident. Flight delays are possible at HAV in the coming hours. Further details are still emerging.
