On Friday, May 25, the Mexican National Meteorological Service issued a tropical storm warning for the Yucatán and Quintana Roo provinces. Heavy rains of more than 100mm (4 in) are forecast for May 26-27 in Quintana Roo, while rainfall between 75-100mm (3-4 in) is expected in Yucatán. Power outages, localized flooding, property damage, and transportation disruptions are possible.
Individuals present in affected areas are advised to monitor developments to the situation and to adhere to any orders issued by the local authorities. In the event of flooding, remember that driving or walking through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) of running water is enough to knock over an adult - and that floodwater may contain wastewater or chemical products; all items having come into contact with the water should be disinfected and all foodstuffs discarded.
