Anti-G7 demonstrations are planned in Québec City on Thursday, June 7, and Saturday, June 9, to coincide with the 2018 G7 Summit taking place in the Charlevoix area, located north of Québec City, on Friday, June 8, and Saturday, June 9. On June 7, protesters are expected to gather at Parc des Braves at 18:00 (local time) before marching to the Congress Centre (International Media Center). On June 9, protesters are expected to stage a similar demonstration in front of the Fontaine de Tourny, adjacent to the National Assembly of Québec. Additional protests are possible in the area in the coming days. A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are expected near protest sites.
An anti-G7 demonstration took place in Québec City in early April. The G7 is comprised of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK, and the US.
Individuals in Québec City during the summit are advised to anticipate heightened security measures and increased traffic congestion (particularly at major travel hubs), and allow for additional travel time. Adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
