Civil society group plans demonstration over high fuel prices in Port Louis June 11 despite government ban

The Consumers Association of Mauritius (ACIM) announced on Wednesday, June 6, that it will organize a demonstration against rising fuel costs in Port Louis on Monday, June 11. According to ACIM leaders, the protest will be held despite city authorities refusing to authorize the event. Participants are expected to gather at the Marie Reine de la Paix Social Center starting at 11:00 (local time). Increased security measures and localized traffic disruptions are expected around the protest site.


Individuals in Port Louis are advised to avoid all demonstrations as a precaution and obey all instructions issued by the local authorities.
