Employees from Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY) are expected to stage a sit-in protest near the Kokodi Bridge on the Coastal Highway on Monday, June 11. The protest is slated to begin at 10:00 (local time). Consequent traffic disruptions are possible near the protest site (especially for those traveling northbound toward BEY from Sidon); flight disruptions (including delays and cancelations) are also possible at BEY due to the anticipated participation of air traffic controllers in the protest. A heightened security presence is expected near the demonstration.

The airport employees have reportedly organized the demonstration to protest staff shortages, among other matters.

Individuals traveling to, from, or through BEY are advised to monitor developments to the situation, consider taking alternate routes to avoid the protest, confirm flight reservations, and contact their airline for more information.
