Violent clashes break out between security forces and armed bandits June 8-10 in Aïr and Ténéré (Agadez region)

Violent clashes were reported from Friday, June 8, to Sunday, June 10, in the Aïr and Ténéré areas of the Arlit department (Agadez region). According to local sources, the clashes involved armed bandits and Nigerien security forces. The violence reportedly resulted in multiple casualties. Further clashes are possible in the area in the coming days.


Individuals in Agadez are advised to monitor developments to the situation and adhere to all instructions issued by local authorities. Many Western governments advise their citizens against all travel to areas located in the north and west of the country, as well as areas along the Nigerian border to the south, due to the high risk of terrorist activity.
