At least 500 people protested in the capital Mbabane on Friday, June 29, to denounce alleged public fund embezzlement by King Mswati III. Police forces reportedly dispersed the crowd with tear gas and rubber bullets, injuring four people. Further protests are possible in the coming days.


King Mswati III, who has been power for 32 years, is regularly criticized for his lavish lifestyle.


Individuals present in Eswatini are advised to monitor the situation and avoid all demonstrations as violence may flare up without warning.
