The Baalbek International Music Festival will take place in Baalbek (Beqaa Valley) this year from July 8 to August 18, with events concentrated around Bacchus Temple. Lebanese authorities will deploy increased security measures surrounding the festival and a visibly increased security presence, as well as localized transportation disruptions, should be expected.
Lebanon's security context is closely tied to the situation in neighboring Syria. However, local authorities have sought to reassure festival-goers that the security situation in Baalbek, located near the Syrian border, is much improved this year compared to 2017, when it was speculated that security concerns led two acts to cancel their appearances.
Individuals present in and around Baalbek are advised to remain vigilant and adhere to any instructions issued by the local authorities.
