Strikes by employees of the Buenos Aires metro (subte) system are set to continue on Friday, August 17. Services on all metro and premetro (tramway) lines will be suspended from 13:00 to 14:00 (local time) and turnstiles in stations along all six metro lines will be opened from noon until 13:00 and from 14:00 to 15:00, allowing passengers to enter without paying. Similar actions are likely to continue in the coming days or weeks.

Increased demand for buses and taxis are to be anticipated during any metro strikes.

Related protests and strikes were held in March and April. The current round of strikes has been ongoing since July 19.

Individuals in Buenos Aires are advised to keep abreast of the situation and avoid any associated street protests as a precaution.
