Honduran authorities increased border controls in seven departments on Wednesday, August 15, to prevent human and contraband trafficking and irregular migration. Additional security forces were deployed to 47 border crossing points along the Honduran border in Cortés, Ocotepeque, La Paz, Choluteca, El Paraíso, and Valle departments. Anticipate a heightened security presence (including identity checkpoints) and associated traffic disruptions in the abovementioned areas.
