A 6.0-magnitude earthquake shook southern Costa Rica at 17:22 (local time) on Friday, August 17. The epicenter was located 19 km deep about 19 km (12 mi) north of the town of Gulfito, near Piedras Blancas National Park. No further details regarding casualties or damage are available as of 18:15.
