Police have announced that they are treating the attempted knife attack that was thwarted early on Monday, August 20, as a terrorist incident. A man armed with a knife attempted to attack police officers at a police station in Cornellà de Llobregat (near Barcelona) shortly before 06:00 (local time) on Monday. The suspect, reportedly an Algerian national, was fatally shot before being able to cause any casualties.


Individuals in Cornellà de Llobregat are advised to avoid the area of the incident until the situation normalizes, obey all instructions issued by the local authorities, and report any suspicious objects or behavior to the police.
