At least one person has died and five more were critically injured in a bombing that targeting the office of the Trinamool Congress party in Makrampur (West Bengal state) on Thursday, August 23. Initial reports suggests that a crude bomb was used. An investigation into the incident has been ordered.


Political offices, members of parliament, and associated workers are regularly targeted by political violence (including arson) in this politically sensitive eastern state.
