Pakistan News Alert

The new government bans VIP protocol at airports

TIMEFRAME expected from 8/27/2018, 12:00 AM until 8/27/2018, 11:59 PM (UTC). COUNTRY/REGION Pakistan

In line with its recently announced austerity plan, the new government of Prime minister Khan has banned VIP protocol given by the Federal Investigation Agency to important people at airports, - starting from August 26. Important individuals were previously given VIP protocol at airports in order to avoid standing in long queues for security checks.

In Pakistan, this kind of VIP protocol is usually given to politicians, legislators, senior bureaucrats, judges, military officials and journalists.

As a reminder, the Pakistani security forces remain on high alert following years of regular terrorist attacks. Although the security protocol at airports and forces deployed may appear excessive to foreign nationals visiting Pakistan, please adhere to any instructions issued by local authorities.
