Hundreds of shipyard workers protest in Zagreb August 27; additional related protests possible in the coming days

TIMEFRAME expected from 8/27/2018, 12:00 AM until 8/31/2018, 11:59 PM (Europe/Zagreb). COUNTRY/REGION Croatia, Pula

Hundreds of striking shipyard workers protested in Zagreb on Monday, August 27, denouncing unpaid wages and dissatisfactory working conditions. Some 4500 other workers have staged related daily marches in Pula. Though the protesting workers reportedly dispersed on Monday after government officials vowed to address their concerns, shipyard workers may stage additional demonstrations in the coming days. A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be expected near any protest sites.

Individuals in Zagreb and Pula, as well as those in Rijeka - where an additional dock is located - are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all protests and demonstrations, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
