Katiola residents set a nearby village on fire on August 28 to protest the disappearance of one of Katiola’s residents; retaliation attacks possible

Some hundred residents of the town of Katiola located in the central part of the country, set on fire houses, looted, and stabbed people in the nearby village of Attienkaha, on Tuesday, August 28. Tens of people were killed in this attack and several others are reportedly injured. According to local sources, the incident occurred following the disappearance of one Katiola resident, for which Attienkaha residents are deemed responsible. Retaliation attacks are possible in the coming days.
