Rendered non-operational since August 14 due to flooding and heavy rainfalls, Kochi / Cochin International Airport (COK) is expected to reopen around 14:00 on August 29, with a first Pune-Bangalore flight to land at 14:05. The flooding affected runway, taxiway, parking bays and apron for several days. The airport - the largest in Southern Kerala state - suffered notable material damages.
Originally, Kochi airport was due to restart operations three days earlier (August 26), however the airline companies, ground handling agencies and personnel vouched for a later reopening.
Individuals travelling to / from Kochi airport should anticipate a gradual return to normal operations. Expect possible delays and cancellations over the next several days.
