On August 29, Hong Kong has been affected by heavy rainfalls, unstable weather conditions and waterspouts, spotted near the Lido Beach on Castle Peak Road. Local weather authorities warned the population of a risk of flooding in low-lying and poorly drained areas.

Context

Waterspouts are fast-rotating air columns above water that extend down from the base of clouds. Waterspouts are most commonly seen during the rainy season between May and September.
