On August 28, the US administration declared that US military forces will end the suspension of military drills with the South Korean army. Washington did not give any indication when the exercises with allied forces in Northeast Asia - which have always angered North Korea in the past - would resume.
Following the US President D. Trump's June meeting with the North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Singapore, the United States said it would suspend military exercises with South Korea. Hence, the large-scale Ulchi Freedom Guardian exercises usually planned for August did not take place.
As a reminder, Western governments advise their citizens against all but essential travel to North Korea (DPRK). Individuals heading to North Korea are advised to follow the advice of their tour group and to adhere to any instructions from local authorities.
