Authorities declared the Mall of Africa (Midrand, near Johannesburg) safe on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 29 (local time), after a bomb threat forced the closure and evacuation of the site earlier in the day. The mall was reportedly cleared by 16:35 and normal commercial activities have since resumed. Lingering traffic disruptions are possible at the mall in the coming hours.


Individuals in the Johannesburg area are advised to report all suspicious objects or behavior to the police and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
