The GMB trade union announced additional strikes by airport workers at Liverpool’s John Lennon International Airport (LPL) on Monday, September 3. Strikes are scheduled to be held from 07:00 until 19:00 (local time) on the following days; September 13, 19, 24, and 26. Additional work stoppages in October are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Flight delays and cancelations are possible, along with increased waiting times at check-in, baggage check/claim, and security checkpoints during and following the strike periods.
Strikes were held on August 23 and 25 as well as September 3 by the GMB union. The new work stoppages were organized after workers rejected a 2.2 percent pay raise from airport management.
Travelers are advised to confirm the status of their flights prior to departure for the airport and contact their airlines for more information.
