Singapore: New regulations considered for PMDs users

Singapore News Alert

The Ministry of Transport to adopt new specific safety measures for personal mobility device (PMD) users and cyclists

TIMEFRAME expected from 9/4/2018, 12:00 AM until 9/4/2018, 11:59 PM (UTC). COUNTRY/REGION Singapore

On September 4, the Government agreed to follow recommendations for safer path sharing between personal mobility device (PMD) users and cyclists. The most important recommendations are: speed limit reduced on footpaths for personal mobility device (PMD) users and cyclists from 15 km/h (9 mph) to 10 km/h (6 mph); the mandatory use of helmets when riding on roads; PMD users and cyclists must "stop and look" out for vehicles at road crossings. Those suggestions are to be implemented in early 2019.

As a reminder, to comply with local regulations, foreign nationals living in Singapore for more than 1 year or becoming permanent residents are compelled to obtain a Singaporean driving licence for driving vehicles in the City-State.
