A demonstration was held in Tbilisi on Wednesday, September 5, to protest the South Caucasus Media Forum sponsored by Russian President Vladimir Putin. According to civil society groups, the demonstration was organized to denounce the presence of Russian representatives at the forum - which is being held at Tbilisi's Vere Palace Hotel. Further demonstrations are expected to take place in Tbilisi on Thursday, September 6, and Friday, September 7.

The South Caucasian Media Forum, sponsored by Russian President Vladimir Putin, has gathered media representatives from Russia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia. This year's event is entitled: "Media's Role in Trust in the Region" and is taking place in Tbilisi from September 4 to September 7.
