Israel/Palestine Terr.: Temporary closure of West Bank and Gaza Strip September 8-11

Israel News Alert

Israeli authorities announce the temporary closure of West Bank and Gaza Strip crossings for Jewish Holiday from September 8 through 11

TIMEFRAME expected from 9/6/2018, 12:00 AM until 9/11/2018, 11:59 PM (Asia/Jerusalem). COUNTRY/REGION West Bank

Israeli authorities announced on Thursday, September 6 that crossings along the Israel-Gaza and Israel-West Bank border would be temporarily closed from Saturday, September 8 to Tuesday, September 11, in anticipation of Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. A heightened security presence is expected near all border crossings on the above mentioned dates.

In past years, Israel has often restricted access to border crossings during Jewish holidays.

Individuals present in Israel and the Palestinian Territories are advised to monitor developments and to avoid all protests and demonstrations due to the persistent risk of violence. Some Western governments advise their citizens against all travel to the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and areas near the Israeli-Lebanese, Israeli-Syrian, and Israeli-Egyptian borders.
