The Hindu festival of Ganesh Chaturthi will begin on Thursday, September 13, and end on Sunday, September 23. While the festival is celebrated across the country, the largest events are expected to take place in Maharashtra, Goa, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka states, as well as the capital Delhi. Significant traffic disruptions along major highways are anticipated as residents travel for the festival, particularly along the Mumbai-Pune Express and Mumbai-Goa Highway. Heightened security measures, such as road closures and an increased security personnel deployment, are also expected nationwide during the celebrations. On Monday, September 10, cordon and search operations were conducted by police officers in Hyderabad (Telangana state) in preparation for Ganesh Chaturthi. Similar operations are possible in other major urban areas in the coming days.
Individuals in India, particularly in the abovementioned areas, during the festival period are advised to allow for additional time to reach their destinations, remain vigilant if in large public gatherings, and report any suspicious behavior or objects to the local authorities
