Protests erupted in Bulenga (near Kampala) on Sunday, September 9, after a police officer was shot and killed in the town the day before. Mourners demonstrating in the town assaulted a police spokesman and threw stones at Minister Jeje Odongo, according to local sources, while threatening to hurl rocks at any police officers who would serve as pallbearers at the police officer's funeral.

Related protests and clashes between demonstrators and security forces are possible in Bulenga in the coming hours and days. A heightened security presence and localized traffic disruptions are to be anticipated near protest sites.  


Individuals in the affected area are advised to monitor developments to the situation, avoid all protests and demonstrations as a precaution, and adhere to all advice issued by the local authorities.
