Italy: Cases of pneumonia reported in Lombardy in September

Italy News Alert

Health authorities report growing outbreak of pneumonia in the Lombardy region since the beginning of September

TIMEFRAME expected from 9/11/2018, 12:00 AM until 9/13/2018, 11:59 PM (Europe/Rome). COUNTRY/REGION Lombardy

Numerous cases of pneumonia have been reported in the provinces of Brescia and Mantua (Lombardy region) since the beginning of September, as of September 10. Local authorities suspect the cases are bacterial in nature and are still investigating the cause of and links between the cases.

Pneumonia is an infection of one or both lungs, caused by either bacteria or viruses, which leads to breathing difficulties. It can represent a medical emergency, especially for the elderly or children under five years of age.

Individuals in the above areas are advised to practice good hygiene - disinfect tap and shower filters, let hot water flow before using running water, avoid vaporized water - as well as avoid apparently sick people. Travelers with health conditions should consult a doctor in the event of fever or breathing difficulties.
