On the early afternoon of Wednesday, September 12 (local time), a fire broke out in the City Star Hotel in downtown Yangon - on Maha Bandoola Garden Street, Kyauktada township - slightly injuring 14 people. Seven foreign tourists are among the injured.
Hotel infrastructure and safety procedures in this developing country generally remain far below Western standards.
