On Monday morning (local time), September 17, the Iranian Embassy in Athens was attacked by members of the anarchist group Rouvikonas. The assailants used rocks and paint to vandalize the building. According to a message published online, the group was responding to the execution of three Kurdish political prisoners by the Iranian regime on September 8.


Rouvikonas is a Greek anarchist group created in 2013 and known for having perpetrated dozens of attacks on state institutions, foreign embassies, and other targets. They often use paint or leaflets, occasionally vandalize the building, and post a video of their attack on social media.
