Taxi drivers will hold protests nationwide on Wednesday, September 19. The largest gathering is expected in the capital Lisbon the vicinity of the parliament building. Other demonstrations will be held in the cities of Porto, Braga, and Faro. Associated roadblocks and consequent traffic disruptions are likely, along with lower taxi availability.


The mobilization is being held to denounce a decision by the president to regulate ride-sharing app services such as Uber and Cabify.


Individuals in Portugal are advised to avoid all demonstrations as a precaution and allow for extra time to reach their destinations.
