On September 17, the Punjab Counter Terrorism Department announced they had arrested five members of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Hizbul Ahrar (HuA) terrorist groups who had been involved in terrorist attacks in various provinces of the country. According to the authorities, the five were about to stage a suicide attack on a bus carrying employees of an intelligence agency in Rawalpindi.
The risk of terrorism is high in Pakistan. The country's most prominent terror group is the TTP, an umbrella organization of groups primarily based in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
Individuals present in Pakistan are advised to be vigilant at all times, keep a low profile, and avoid crowds, public places, and public gatherings (often targeted in terrorist attacks). Adhere to any instructions issued by local security forces.
