Intercommunal clashes between two clans in Narok and Nakuru counties resumed in Olpusimoru (Narok county) on Sunday, September 23. According to local officials, at least 21 people were wounded in the new round of fighting. Additional security personnel deployed into the area in an effort to restore order and prevent further clashes. The renewed violence is believed to be linked to an incident of cattle theft. Tensions reportedly remain high in the area and further fighting is possible in the coming days. Travel between Nairobi and the Masai Mara reserve may also be disrupted as Narok county is on the route between the two areas.

Fighting broke out in Eastern Mau (Nakuru county) and Narok South (Narok county) September 5-12 between two communities over land rights in the Mau forest. At least five people were killed in the clashes.

Individuals in Narok and Nakuru counties are advised to monitor the situation, remain vigilant, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities.
