Saudi Arabia announced a new tourist e-visa for special events beginning December 2018

Saudi Arabia will offer electronic tourism visas for special events beginning in December 2018, announced the Saudi General Sports Authority on Tuesday, September 25. The 14-day visa application can be filed online with a 640 Saudi Riyal (USD 170) fee and allows "free mobility within specific Saudi territories." The visa program will be available for the December 15 Riyadh Grand Prix.


Currently, the kingdom strict visa requirements and only offers visas for foreign workers and dependents, business travelers, and pilgrims. The move comes as Saudi Arabia is attempting to diversify its economy and establish a tourism industry.


Individuals traveling to Saudi Arabia are advised to contact their nearest Saudi embassy or consulate for more information regarding entry requirements.
