Sit-in near the residence of President Moïse in the Port-au-Prince neighborhood of Pèlerin 5 October 1; avoid all protests

TIMEFRAME expected from 10/1/2018, 12:00 AM until 10/1/2018, 11:59 PM (UTC). COUNTRY/REGION Port-au-Prince

A sit-in protest is set to take place near the residence of President Jovenel Moïse in the capital Port-au-Prince on Monday, October 1. The residence is situated in the Pèlerin 5 neighborhood, located in the east of the city in the Pétionville area. The demonstration is taking place on the occasion of World Habitat Day to denounce the July 3 demolition of several homes in the area. A heightened security presence is likely and clashes between protesters and police cannot be ruled out.

Numerous demonstrations have been held in recent months in the capital to demand the resignation of President Moïse.

Individuals in Port-au-Prince are advised to strictly avoid all protests and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities and their home governments.
