On September 28, unions representing university professors ended their nationwide strike launched on September 3, following successful negotiations with the government. As such, classes in all eight Nigerien universities resumed on Monday, October 1.
Context
The strike was held to demand the payments of salary arrears as well as better working conditions; it disrupted the start of the academic year, initially scheduled for September 3.
