A public sector strike and associated protest are planned in Izmir on October 3; localized disruptions expected

The National Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DISK) has scheduled a protest in Izmir (Aegean region) for Wednesday, October 3, demanding improved working conditions such as salary protection and employment security. Protesters will gather at 13:00 (local time) at Konak Square. Localized traffic disruptions are anticipated. DISK and the Confederation of Public Workers (KISK) have also called for a related public sector strike to be held on the same day.
