UK: Strikes on the London Underground October 5

United Kingdom News Alert

Tube drivers to stage a 24-hour walkout on the Central and Waterloo & City lines on October 5; associated transportation disruptions expected

TIMEFRAME expected from 10/3/2018, 12:00 AM until 10/5/2018, 11:59 PM (Europe/London). COUNTRY/REGION London

Members of the drivers' union Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (Aslef) will stage a 24-hour strike on the London Underground (Tube) on Friday, October 5, suspending operations on the Central Line and on the Waterloo & City Line. A saturation of alternative means of transportation (buses, other lines, etc.) as well as increased traffic congestion are expected. An associated strike is set to place on November 7.

The Central Line is one of the busiest underground lines in the UK; it is the only line running from the northeast of London (Essex) to the west (Ealing Broadway and West Ruislip) and passing through the city center.

Travelers are advised to plan alternate routes and allow for extra time to reach their destinations for the duration of the strike.
