Sydney Airport (SYD) temporarily closed on Thursday, October 4, to initiate a "full emergency response" to a mayday call from an inbound plane. Authorities closed nearby major roads and deployed paramedics and emergency personnel to the runway around 06:00 (local time). As of 13:00 the airport was operational and all roads were reopened following the safe landing of the plane.
