Workers from the Bahia Las Minas power plant demonstrated in the capital Panama City on Thursday, October 4, to protest the plant’s planned closure, set for December 31. The demonstration was held outside the Ministry of Economy building. Further such protests are possible in the coming weeks and months, both in the capital and at the plant site.


The plant’s closure would leave 500 people unemployed.


Individuals in Panama are advised to avoid all protests as a precaution.
