Hundreds of soldiers protested in the capital Addis Ababa on Wednesday, October 10, to demand a salary raise and a reform of military operations. Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has promised that their demands will be met; however, further protests are possible in the coming days if this does not come to pass in a timely fashion. Furthermore, the internet was blocked for nearly three hours during the protest to prevent the circulation of "fake news."
Individuals present in Ethiopia are advised to monitor the situation and avoid all protests as violence may flare up without warning.
