In September, the Qatari government amended the country's residency laws, which will allow most migrant workers to exit the country without obtaining permission from their employer. The government has since announced that the new legislation would come into effect on Sunday, October 28.

Qatar hosts around 2 million migrant workers, most of whom are currently working on significant infrastructure projects for the 2022 Soccer World Cup.

Individuals are advised to contact their nearest Qatari consulate for further details.
