India: Heavy rain continues in Hyderabad amid flooding

Heavy rainfall expected to continue in Hyderabad until October 19 amid flooding
Event
Heavy rainfall of up to 12 cm (5 in) was recorded in Hyderabad (Telangana state) on Wednesday, October 16, leading to flooding. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that further rain is forecast for the city October 17-18. Low-level damage has been reported, along with associated traffic disruptions. Further floods cannot be ruled out.
Advice
Individuals in the affected areas should monitor local weather reports, confirm travel plans, avoid low-lying areas, and adhere to instructions issued by local authorities. Remember that walking or driving through running water can be dangerous - 15 cm (6 in) is enough to knock over an adult - and that floodwater may contain wastewater and chemical products; all items having come into contact with floodwater should be disinfected and all foodstuffs discarded.
