Saudi Arabia News Alert

Houthi missile reportedly hits military target in Majazeh (Asir province) on October 18

TIMEFRAME expected from 10/19/2018, 12:00 AM until 10/26/2018, 11:59 PM (Asia/Riyadh). COUNTRY/REGION Aseer province

On the morning (local time) of Thursday, October 18, a short-range ballistic missile fired from Yemen reportedly hit a Saudi military facility near Majazeh (Asir province). According to Houthi-controlled media outlets, a missile fired from Yemen hit another Saudi military facility in Asir province on Thursday, October 11. It is unclear if the missile strikes resulted in any casualties or damage.

Reports estimate that Houthi militias have fired over 207 missiles at Saudi Arabia since 2015, when Saudi Arabia began backing the Yemeni government against Houthi separatists in the Yemeni Civil War.

Southern Saudi Arabia is a frequent target of Houthi missile attacks, and Riyadh has also seen several missile attacks in the last several months; however, they rarely result in many damages or casualties. Nevertheless, on September 5, shrapnel from an intercepted missile wounded at least 37 people in Najran.

In the event of a missile attack, individuals in Saudi Arabia are advised to seek shelter, monitor developments to the situation, and adhere to all instructions issued by the local authorities or their home governments.
