Gas station operators in New Delhi on strike against fuel prices October 22; 400 stations closed until early October 23

TIMEFRAME expected from 10/22/2018, 12:00 AM until 10/23/2018, 11:59 PM (Asia/Calcutta). COUNTRY/REGION New Delhi

A strike by gas station operators is ongoing in New Delhi as of Monday, October 22, to protest the government’s refusal to lower sales taxes on petrol and diesel. Some 400 stations have been closed and are expected to remain so until 05:00 (local time) on October 23.

An opposition-led nationwide shutdown strike took place on September 10 over fuel prices and resulted in severe disruptions.

Travelers in New Delhi should avoid any gatherings associated to the gas stations’ closures and be prepared for associated transportation disruptions.
