Italian authorities temporarily closed Repubblica station (Rome) after an escalator in the station collapsed on the evening (local time) of Tuesday, October 23. At least 20 people were injured as the escalator collapsed. Localized traffic disruptions are to be expected around the station in the near term as emergency services remain on the scene. Lingering metro disruptions are possible on Line A of the Rome Metro in the coming hours.
